He is Risen, Alleluia!
Our hope and our prayer this Easter for each and every one of you as the family of faith of St. Anne, is well expressed by the preacher of the papal household, Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, who spoke these words at the Good Friday celebration at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican:
“When this moment (the pandemic) has passed, we should not revert to that prior time, we should not waste this opportunity. Let us not allow so much pain, so many deaths, and so much heroic engagement on the part of health workers to have been in vain.”
“We too, after these days that we hope will be short, shall rise and come out of the tombs of our homes.”
No, we will not go back to the way things were. There will be a “new normal” for us – a more kind and gentle side to us all, a more human and Christian way of life. The “tombs of our homes” have brightened, they are well lit now with the Light of the Risen Christ.
We, your priests, hold you in our hearts.
From our home to your homes,
A Blessed Easter!
Fr. Brian
