Our Holy Father, Francis, wrote an Apostolic Letter December 8th, 2020 entitled “Patris Corde”, (With a Father’s Heart), commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Proclamation by Pope Pius IX of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. He proclaimed 2021 the Year of St. Joseph.
Pope Francis’ letter [click to read] is only 13 pages, a beautiful reflection on our patron, St. Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin. If you get a chance, read and meditate on it slowly.
This year we also have a chance to celebrate a novena to St. Joseph each day from March 10-18. Each evening on our daily scripture reflections page we will post a simple prayer for the next day. They will contain a short scripture quote, a moment to reflect briefly on it, and a concluding prayer.
Saint Joseph occupied a special place in the life of Jesus, faithfully caring for the beginnings of the mysteries of salvation in the life of Christ, and faithfully caring for us as these mysteries (the life, death, and resurrection of Christ) are perpetuated in our lives, in our hearts, homes, and communities.
St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church and patron of Canada, pray for us.
Fr. Brian
