First Reading: Acts 3.11-26
Psalm 8
Gospel: Lk 24:35-48
“Alleluia. Christ is Risen, Alleluia”.
Christ’s first greeting is
: “Peace be with You” In this time of anxieties and stand still, first of all, I would like to extend my greetings
: “PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL”.
Our reflection on today’s liturgy: Recalling yesterday’s reading and continuing today, Peter and John go to the temple to pray. There at the gate of the temple there was a lame person asking for alms
. Peter took compassion on him and said:
“I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk”. Peter, empowered by Christ the Risen Lord, performs an outstanding miracle. He then invites all the listeners to repent and believe in Christ the Risen Lord whom they rejected, killed and who now is alive and has the power to save all.
The Gospel: After the experience of the two disciples of Emmaus, Jesus appeared in their midst and said to them:
“Peace be with you”. Here Jesus stands, gloriously risen, shocking even his closest friends and disciples, so that they think He must be a ghost. But Jesus dispels that mindset. He tells them: “
Why do such ideas cross your mind?” Furthermore, He asks: “
Touch me and see that a ghost does not have flesh and bones as I do”. Then He let them feel the glorified wounds in His hands and His feet. When they still seemed unable to believe this great news, He sat down and ate lunch with them.
In a way, we are not better than the disciples of Jesus. We have so many doubts and worries as well, especially this testing time of pandemic crisis. We are not the first ones to believe in Christ. We have had so many holy people who preceded us. Therefore, if we are true to ourselves, we have had so many examples that we need not doubt very much that Christ is Risen. We do believe in Him. He is near to us even in this particular time of our crisis.
We need only to listen when he talks to us. In our daily journey, let us invite Him to our homes and tables to bless our families and our daily spiritual and material food. Let’s continue praying to God
“ThePeace of the Risen Lord be with You all”.
