First Reading: Acts 8:26-40
Psalm 66
Gospel: John 6:44-51
We read in the Acts of the Apostles the instruction of the Ethiopian by the deacon Philip who went beyond his job of just giving food to the faithful. After the instruction, he went on to baptize the Ethiopian, thus beginning the long tradition of the faith in that country.
The Gospel gives the reason why we celebrate the Eucharist every Sunday. We are following the teaching of Jesus and believing in God and obeying his command to receive the Eucharist. Jesus tells us
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven: whoever eats of this bread will live forever." Jesus not only came to be our salvation but also to be our source of eternal life. Let us continue to pray to Jesus that he will help us in this time of need and protect us from all harm.
Tomorrow we begin the Month of Mary. May we turn to her to help us through this pandemic. Mary was given to us as our mother by Jesus. Let us pray all this month for her help and protection.
