Scripture Readings: Malachi 3:1-4,4:5-6; Psalm 25; Luke 1:57-66
Here we are two more days till Christmas and the Church gives these two readings to reflect upon. Our first reading is from the prophet Malachi who speaks about preparing the way of the Lord. He will come and prepare our hearts to receive him. He will come not to destroy us but to bring us salvation. Of course, this is a reference to the Birth Of Jesus which we will celebrate in two days. This year it will be a blessed Christmas. The end of the pandemic is in sight. Let the whole world get the shot.
Of course, our response is "Lift up your heads and see: your redemption is near at hand."
In the Gospel we hear of the birth of John the Baptist and how he got his name. The one who will prepare the way of the Lord, St. John, is the example of what we need to be doing now and how we are to prepare for this celebration of Christmas. Do you have the birthday present ready for Jesus? It's not hard to give him our hearts, ready to receive his love and salvation. Do not be afraid: Jesus is always ready to receive our hearts and fill them with his love.
God bless all of you and have a blessed Christmas. Fr. Tom
