Readings: Hebrews 10:11-18; Psalm 110; Mark 4:1-20
We continue our reading from the letter to the Hebrews. In it the author speaks about the perfect sacrifice of Jesus out-does all the sacrifices done before his. The sacrifice of Jesus just once takes away all our sins just once and forever. There is no longer any need for the sacrifices of old. Jesus died once and for all to take away our sins. With his death and resurrection, Jesus also establishes the new and eternal covenant, the one we live each and every day of our lives.
In today's Gospel, Jesus speaks about his word, the word of God growing in the good soil of our faith and belief in Jesus. We are all different but the word of God remains the same for all to hear. We hear many words in our life time but the words of Jesus count the most and what we do with them will lead us to salvation. We are called to be good soil and produce good works. In this time of pandemic, we are called to do good to our neighbors and help them when we can.
Today is the feast of St Angela Merici, the foundress of the Ursuline Sisters who worked to educate the poor and young girls. We thank St Angela and her sister for all the good they did and do to help their neighbour.
