Readings: Genesis 15:1-12,17-18; Psalm 105; Matthew 7:15-20
God keeps His promises to us at all times. In the first reading it seems that God is taking his time to make good the promises to our forefather Abraham. He told Abraham that he would make of him a great nation and would lead him to the promised land. God kept His promises and gave to us the first Covenant and thus began our Salvation History, the promise of sending us our Savior, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The response for today reminds us: "The Lord remembers His covenant for ever."
We have been saved by Jesus. The Gospel once more tells us to bear good fruit. A tree doesn't of itself generally go bad in a single moment, but decays gradually from within. We must be ready to fight temptation at all times and with the grace of God we can. Visible or invisible, we will be known by our fruits. "Fruits" are lived faith and ethical conduct, the real test of a good or bad person. We will be known by our fruits. Take care and God bless. Fr Tom
