We continue to read from the Book of the Acts of the Apostles. We read that Paul and Silas are in the city of Philippi and have great success in preaching the Good News. After this success they are punished and thrown into prison. While they were praying, there was an earthquake that opened all the doors of the prison and opened their chains. They did not leave the prison in consideration of the Jailor who would have been killed, and thus brought him and his family salvation. This tells us that God does use us to bring salvation to others. Our actions are good news to others as we lead them by our good example.
Our Gospel continues the discourse of the Last Supper and the promise of Jesus to send us the Holy Spirit to be with us until the end of time. Thus, we have the Sacrament of Confirmation. We who are baptized have also received this sacrament and the gifts of the Holy Spirit which help us on our earthly journey.
Let us continue to thank Jesus for all He has given us for our journey and guide us on our way each and every day of our lives. Take care and God bless all of you. Fr. Tom
