The overall theme of our readings today is turning "sorrow into joy". St Paul went to Athens to preach the Good News to the people there. He thought that, by his wisdom and learning, he would be successful. It did not go well for him, so he went to Corinth and preached the Good News there for about two years. His sorrow was turned into Joy:
"many of the Corinthians who heard Paul became believed and were baptized". Paul was so full of joy that later he wrote two letters to the Corinthians. We still read these letters in the Church today.
The response to the Psalm today says,
"The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power". This phrase fills us with joy as we all have received the salvation.
In the Gospel, we are like the disciples who wonder about the words of Jesus. We, too, ask the question: When is he coming back? We should not worry about the “when” because we are ready and prepared by our faith in Jesus. As I said last time, he did not leave us orphans but has given us the Good News of the scriptures and the guidance of the Church.
Be joyful and happy, keep safe and God bless you.
