First Reading: Acts 2: 36-41
Ps 33
Gospel: John 20: 11-18
Our first reading speaks about the first Pentecost. After the sermon of Saint Peter, he was able to baptize 3,000 people to mark the beginning of the Church. Peter’s message was "repent and be baptized" because Christ has risen from the dead. This is the theme of the Easter season and the basis of all that we believe. Christ has risen, as he said.
In the Gospel we read about Mary Magdalene and her spreading the news about the resurrection. She was an eye witness to this glorious news. Mary Magdalene and the apostles are our models for the gift this Easter to begin to run again to bring everyone the good news of Easter morning.
Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday: let us pray that the Church will rededicate herself to living and proclaiming this good news to the whole world. By His resurrection, Jesus defeated death and gave us, through our baptism, the gift of everlasting life. God bless you all
With peace, mercy, and love.
