Confirmation is the completion of our Baptism. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit, and equiped for life as Catholic Christians. Confirmation is celebrated with youth in or above grade 7. This generally takes place in the spring for our parish, with formation throughout the school year to prepare candidates to receive the grace of the sacrament. For those in Catholic schools, the preparation is in partnership with the elementary school.
*Anyone who has not yet been baptized, and is in grade 7 or above, will be prepared for Baptism, First Eucharist and Confirmation together. If this is applicable, make sure to indicate this in your registration.

Families with young people in grade 7 or above are asked to attend one of two information sessions:
Preparation Sessions
Our Confirmation sessions are for all candidates. Parents, guardians, and sponsors are welcome (but not required) at these opportunities for prayer, learning, and community. They are offered from 7-8:30 pm at St Joseph Church on Sundays, and St Anne Parish on Mondays. You may choose the location and date that best suits you for the year, regardless of which church or school you attend.
Our retreat, rehearsal, and Confirmation itself will take place at St Joseph Church for all families.

Individual Preparation
Prayer and Personal Faith Life
As you approach Confirmation, we encourage you to explore ways you can deepen your faith life individually. Prayer – communication with God – is critical for both Confirmation preparation and for your faith overall, but it will look different for each of us.
To help you in this journey, we have a small book for you. In My Encounter: How I Met Jesus in Prayer, author Chika Anyanwu shares her story of prayer — the highs and lows, the joys and challenges. It is a practical resource for growing your prayer life, filled with story and conversational advice.
Sponsor-Candidate Conversations
All candidates for Confirmation choose a sponsor to accompany them in their faith journey. We will be sending conversation guides for candidates to complete with their sponsors throughout the preparation process. These will include scripture, questions to discuss, and opportunities for prayer. All activities can be done in person, over the phone, or virtually. Resources and tips for choosing a Sponsor will be provided at our October Information Session.
