Readings: Acts 2:14, 22-33; Psalm16; Matthew 28:8-15
HAPPY EASTER TO ALL OF YOU.
Our first reading is from the Acts of the Apostles which tell us of St Peter's act of addressing the people after the Resurrection, telling them all about Jesus risen from the dead. He proclaims Jesus as the Messiah foretold by all the prophets as the Son of God. St Peter is trying to tell the Jewish people that Jesus whom they had killed was the one promised by the covenant to save them and us from our sins. But he is risen from the dead. This is good news indeed. These are the words of one who witnessed the actual events and who was to give his life for this fact.
Our response is "Alleluia, Alleluia.
The Gospel recounts the appearance of Jesus to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary and their testimony of the Resurrection of Jesus. The reading tells of the lie by the solders guarding the tomb of Jesus and how they ran away in fear at the moment of the resurrection of Jesus. No lie can affect our joy of this great event. Again, Happy Easter to all.
May the Risen Jesus bless you and keep you safe. Fr. Tom
