Readings: Isaiah 41:13-20; Psalm 145; Matthew 11:11-15
Our first reading again is full of hope and confidence in the love of God for each one of us. Twice in this reading he tells us "Do not fear". He will send us the Messiah who will save us from our sins. He will answer all the prayers of those who ask him; he will change the landscape all around us. He will create all things new and better and begin His work of salvation.
Our Psalm response is "The Lord is kind and merciful."
In the Gospel Jesus speaks about St. John the Baptist as the promised prophet who will prepare the way of the Lord. He is the sign that Christ is to come among us. He will begin his work of salvation. This is what we celebrate during this Advent Season. The feast of Christmas marks the beginning of our salvation. Let us be confident in the works of Salvation.
Again, "do not fear", the Lord is with us leading us to Salvation.
