Readings: Revelation 20:1-4,11-15, 21:1-2; Psalm 84; Luke 21: 29-33
Todays passage is from a section of the Book of Revelation on the destruction of pagan nations and the beginning of a new creation. The symbolism is drawn from a long, rich heritage that blends history and religion, ritual and folklore, Jewish and non-Jewish images. He writes about a new heaven and a new earth. The new Jerusalem is a vision of salvation. St John was giving hope to the new Christians. At the end of the reading we have the origin of the words we say before receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus. So, we also are full of hope.
Today we also approach the end of the Church's year. We take Jesus’ word to heart that His word will not pass away until they are fulfilled. We must look to the times and always be ready for what the Lord sends us in our daily life. Let us be ready to start the season of Advent by once again repenting and always believing in the words of Jesus.
