Readings: Philippians 1:1-11; Psalm 111; Luke 14:1-6
The first reading starts out with St. Paul in prison writing to the beloved Christians of Philippi and thanking them for all the good work they have done in Christ. Their living of the Gospel has been an inspiration for Paul. They have put the words of Jesus into practice. They have given St. Paul good feelings about the message of the Gospel so that they will be ready when Christ returns, when they will meet him in heaven.
The Responsorial Psalm gives praise to the Lord for all the good things he has done for us.
In the Gospel, Jesus heals a sick person on the Sabbath. He is at the house of a Pharisee and does the healing right in front of him. He is breaking one of their Laws. Jesus silenced the Pharisee and others by His action of healing, which is a good thing even on the Sabbath. Jesus is always good to us and gives us what we need. May he continue to take care of us during this pandemic.
